Hang around kids long enough, and one of them will tell you the interrupting cow knock knock joke. OK, fine… hang around me and you might hear it, too.
It’s a funny joke, but the thing is… I sometimes find email and Twitter, in particular, to be my interrupting cows, always butting in when I don’t expect them. That’s all fine and dandy when I’m playing around, but it’s not so helpful when I’m working.
My solution is to turn off Tweetdeck and not check my email when I’m involved in something where I don’t want metaphorical cows busting in. I haven’t used Freedom, but I would do so if needed. It’s never easy to turn things off… but it’s necessary.
Am I the only one who hears the moo? Do you have other ways of stopping the interruptions? I’m always up for hearing good tricks….

Hi Greg,
I like your interrupting cow, well… I’m sure it’s a nice cow when she’s not interrupting.

It’s a very nice cow. I love my cow, in fact – email and twitter make me happy AND are incredibly useful tools. But they don’t have to be 24/7!

Very good point told in a fun way. Thanks!
Sad to say, perhaps…but I have to leave the house and the computer behind – head off to a cafe with notebook and pencil. But whatever works, right?

Oh yeah – I have to turn it all off. Especially when I’m writing. It takes a while to get in that zone and one *ding!* can pop you right out of concentrating. Ugh!

Not sure I know the cow joke though…

Turn off my Email? I’m not sure I could stand it. That might be as disruptive as sitting here reading it. LOL I think I’ll have to find a way to ignore it this week, though. Too much going on!
