Low Tech… and That’s Okay!

by Greg on July 29, 2009

“Lead with an image” is good blogging advice, yet here you’ll see a post without a photo or image or anything like it. Unlike some I wrote up in advance of my traveling and others I’ll be doing later on, I’m writing this on the fly and walking with my laptop to find a wireless network I know is not far away so I can upload it.

And why?

Because every time I travel, I’m reminded again that I don’t blog or tweet or go to Facebook because of or for the technology  - I go because of the relationships, formed and not yet formed. Do I want to deliver great looking posts and non-chubby-finger-typed tweets? Yes, of course… and folks around here and on Twitter deserve and (I hope!) expect that, too, on balance.

Still, I know why I’m blogging and tweeting and know what I offer and what I don’t, so I’m okay with a little low tech action, too. In fact, I’m okay with it enough tonight to walk a few blocks in the dark to ask all of you – do you know why you’re doing what you do online?

Your answer might be “purely business” or “purely social” or anything in between, and there truly is no wrong answer. The key is simply in knowing YOUR answer, then blogging, tweeting, friending, and otherwise acting accordingly.

Feel free to let me know if you think I’m off base… and I’ll be back soon with pretty pictures and everything!
