Facebook’s New Again

by Greg on February 10, 2010

Facebook has been rolling out a new home page to users. If you haven’t gotten it yet, one day soon you’ll see this when you go to your account:

The biggest change I noticed immediately was that the “Live News Feed” – which shows your friends’ most recent updates – has been renamed “Most Recent.” You can still toggle back and forth between that and what is now called “Top News” – the “highlighted” updates from friends.

Search is more prominent at the top of the page now, and you have more icons to the left. If you click on Friends on the left, your list pops up in the center of the page, with recently changed profiles featured.

All in all, nothing earth-shattering here in what I’ve played with so far. For me, at least, it’s a bit frustrating coming so soon on the heels of their last redesign, but when you’re on a proprietary system like Facebook, you have to roll with the changes.

If you see anything you like or dislike in the changes, I’d love to hear….

The privacy settings changed, and I wish there wouldn’t be a notification on my profile every time I “like” or comment on someone’s post.

The other things that has been annoying from the beginning of the Facebook adventure, is the fact that you cannot voice directly your dislikes about the services. You have to post on a discussion board, but it doesn’t feel as if you’re heard by FB headquarters…
