Go to http://www.facebook.com/username, and you’ll see a screen like this (but using your name):
Pick your name and click Set Username. If the name you chose is available and legal, it’s yours. Pick carefully, however: you won’t be able to change your new URL!
Good luck to any of you with common names who reallllllly want to be the first in. Just remember, we’ve survived this long without the vanity URL, and I’m sure we’ll be okay after the dust has settled, too.
