Chocolate Milk Lessons

by Greg on June 28, 2010

Last week, at the 8 Oz Burger Bar here in LA, someone at my table wanted chocolate milk, an item not on the menu. But the waiter said “we have milk, we have chocolate sauce for dessert… sure. I can do that!”

The same ingredient situation and request was true at a different restaurant this week… but chocolate milk was not made. Perhaps a milk shortage or a bad prior experience was to blame. Regardless, the answer was simply “no.” Fair enough – it wasn’t on the menu.

Both meals were yummy… but which experience do you think I remember? Where do you think I’m more likely to return?

When you blog (or Tweet or interact anywhere, really), why not offer the chocolate milk? You don’t even have to wait to be asked. You can exceed expectations, often with very little effort.

Online, just like offline, that’s one thing that keeps people coming back for more.

Great point, Greg. I always remember anyone who goes the extra mile.
