Penguin showed what they are doing with the iPad:

No, this isn’t social media related, per se, but it’s interesting to see. Is this a “book” or something else? Does it replace or co-exist with paper books (the latter, I believe)?
I hope that the iPad finally puts to rest the idea that e-books won’t be appealing or anything more than glorified PDF files. And I think this video shows that there will be kid-appeal, an anti-e argument that’s never made sense to me.
Interesting times, indeed. And I’m curious to hear your thoughts….

This is incredible. First time I’m actually seeing how this works. Question that pops up: why No?
I’m a children’s writer and reading promoter, so I know about the never-ending competition between books and technology (t.v., computer etc). If we can make reading more accessible for as many as possible, wouldn’t that be a plain Yes?
Let’s I, let’s E, let’s Read happily!
Yes, I agree – it is a way to make reading more accessible. Whether it’s a “book” or not isn’t a concern to me. I also don’t think e-books replace traditionally printed books. I do think it changes the equation for how publishing companies make money, though, and in turn how authors and illustrators do, too. But if it makes more readers? It’s all good.
